If you’re anything like me, you are NOT a cowgirl and you do NOT have a closet full of western clothes. Every year, when the Calgary Stampede starts to approach, I begin to panic a little thinking about what I’m going to wear!
Now, for those ten days, I do try to embrace my ‘inner-cowgirl’. I make an effort to get into the ‘Stampede spirit’ and I have developed a few easy tips that I thought I would share with you.
1 Cowboy Hat
2 Western Shirts
1 Pair of (uncomfortable) Cowboy Boots
It’s not a lot, right? …But, that’s okay! I have a few little tricks, that I have developed, that I find have worked well for this non-Calgary native.
I know this isn’t a long list, but that’s the whole point. This list for those girls like me! The girl who is maybe from Winnipeg…where your friends know you’re NOT a cowgirl…and they’re probably laughing at the mere thought of you even trying to embrace your inner-cowgirl!
And do they even listen to country music in Winnipeg???
Don’t forget, you don’t need to shop at a western store to find a plaid shirt or, really, any of these items. Many of your favourite retail shops, consignment boutiques or even Facebook buy/sell groups probably have most (or all) of these items widely available.
And here’s one last tip! If you’re feeling overwhelmed with trying to get your giddy-up-Stampede-outfit together, my friend Dionne swears by a little shop in Inglewood called, ‘espy’! Just show up, give them a budget (it doesn’t have to be huge) and apparently they’ll get you outfitted and out the door before you a can say, ‘Yee-Haw’! You can check them out here.
If you have any questions about my Stampede wardrobe or, more importantly, your next real estate decision, please feel free to contact me! I’m always happy to help!
